Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor children, who would all grow up together eventually, learned very young the way to conquer of the difficulties she faced with her extraordinary and vivid imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she began making up her own songs. As a young girl when she bought the first electric guitar. Then she began singing for the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year, she recorded her debut album Gold Band Records an independent small label. As a student in high school, she was able to make her mark locally but was always dreaming of a larger stage. She moved to Nashville just after she graduated in 1964. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV at the time was searching for a girl to sing on his show. Parton was appointed in the year 1967, signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Parton left the show however, in 1974 because her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and the song reached number. The first time it reached the top spot was in 1974.
