Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She's co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an independent liberal news outlet has a TV personality as well as a writer and philanthropist. She was born in Greece and immigrated to England in the year 16. Then, at Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA of Economics. She was the first person from outside the UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. She joined the conservative syndicated author after her graduation and when The Huffington Post launched a few years after, she created an online platform to voice opinions that provided criticisms of political situations. The fame of her name helped in bringing on a host of well-known contributors to share their opinions on politics news and culture. Arianna gained notoriety during 2003 when she ran independently in a recall contest in California for the seat of then-Governor Davis. Alongside this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Her rank was 12th on Forbes's list of the most influential women in the media. In the same year, Guardian listed her among the 100 top media figures. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of the media group which included many then-existing AOL brands too, like Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was close to her father it was the bond she had with her mother which shaped her future. In her earliest years she demonstrated the skills of leadership for which she has become well known. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She joined in the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college in which she became the third and first female to be elected president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master's in Economics. She worked as a music critic, a TV host and columnist upon her graduation. She also appeared in an episode of Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books after receiving editorial advice from Bernard Levin.
