Lynda Carter

Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter. Her father is of English and Scots-Irish descent and her mother, whose family hailed from Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. She is the daughter of Vincent as well as a brother and Pamela as a sister. Carter was a public TV star when she made her debut on Lew King's Talent Show at age 5. Carter joined a group called Just Us in high school. The group played marimba, conga drums, an acoustic guitar and stand-up basses. One member of the group also played guitar. Lynda began singing in a pizza place when she was 15. [8] When she was 16 years old, she joined two of her cousins in another group known as The Relatives. The actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the band. The band was first formed at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. Carter had to enter the kitchen due to being younger than 21. After being named "Most Talented" Carter made the decision to leave school and pursue a career as a musician. In the year 1970, Carter auditioned and then was on the road together with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first concert with each other was held at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel so new that it did not have a sidewalk access. The hotel's staff and guests had their cars parked in the garage underground, which meant that they were mainly performing for them. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" performing shows in several of the state's casinos lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and was able to return to Arizona.
